Middle School

Middle09

Once in fifth grade and officially in middle school, students are blended into departmental settings with core subjects: language arts, math, social studies, and science. In sixth grade, Latin is added to the curriculum, and students begin to work with a different teacher for each subject.

Music, art, religious studies, computer, physical education, and library time round out the week, while course work continues to follow the Core Knowledge Sequence. These students study physical science, biology, pre-algebra, and Algebra I – all courses they will encounter when they enter high school.

Students are also offered a wide range of opportunities – service, sports, choir, chess, Science Olympiad, liturgical dance, student council – are all available to our middle school students. A no-cut athletic policy and unique student council program that has no elected officers encourage even the most reluctant of students to participate in extracurricular activities. Another middle school highlight is the eighth grade wilderness challenge experience.

It is no wonder that our students are equipped to take on leadership roles in high school.
