Outdoor Education

Our Outdoor Education program takes the skills and practices that we teach in the classroom and brings them to life in the outdoors. In 6th grade, students have a full day of team-building and leadership activities with hands-on canoe instruction on Cane Bayou in Mandeville. In 7th grade, they add to these skills and go on a multi-element overnight camping trip at Bogue Chitto State Park. On this trip, students engage in various team-building activities, wilderness hiking, and canoe a section of the beautiful Bogue Chitto River. In 8th grade, students embark on their one-week-long North Carolina leadership adventure. This opportunity encompasses all the skills learned in the previous years and more. Students experience many challenging and amazing activities such as backpacking, rock climbing, and whitewater rafting. Not only do students learn new leadership skills and how to work together as a team, they also come home with wonderful memories of their graduating class that will last a lifetime.
